On behalf of COCHUSA, we recognize and celebrate our Hispanic brothers and sisters during National Hispanic Heritage Month.
COCHUSA, has historically been a predominately African American denomination with congregations located in communities that have been primarily black. As has been the case across the U.S., in the last 30 years, we’ve seen those same communities become more diverse with the presence of new neighbors- from places like Puerto Rico, Honduras, El Salvador, Mexico, Guatemala, or Texas, Arizona, Chicago and New York. We are happy that individuals from these communities have found a community and a spiritual home within COCHUSA.
National Hispanic Heritage Month
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed from September 15 to October 15. These dates commemorate the independence days of Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, and Chile. It is a time to celebrate and recognize the culture, history, traditions, and many contributions of Hispanics to the United States and the world. We welcome and honor those who are members of the COCHUSA both in the USA and in their native land.
