(JACKSON, MISS., COCHUSA National Headquarters) – The time of year has come again for the annual Pastors and Leaders Conference, which will be held at Greater Mt. Bethel COCHUSA (4125 Robinson St.) in Jackson, May 20- 22, 2019. The conference will begin each day at 9 a.m.
Hosted by the COCHUSA Department of Religious Education or DRE, the Pastors and Leaders Conference provides clergy and all ministry leaders an opportunity to fellowship, find encouragement and enhance their approach to leading and serving congregations and ministries within their communities.
The conference theme for this year is: Growing the Kingdom- 2 Peter 3:18a. Presenters include Bishop Joseph R. Campbell, Prelate of Mississippi’s South Central Diocese; Houston-resident Min. Daniel Kennebrew, Congress President of the COCHUSA Sunday School and Holiness Youth Ministries; Rev. Michael J. Cox and Bishop Claude Alexander, Jr.

ABOUT THE GUEST SPEAKERS
Rev. Cox serves as Regional Development Director for the United Negro College Fund. His responsibility is to advance the mission of UNCF in Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan, Missouri and Kansas. Additionally, he serves as a consultant on strategic transformation, leadership development and change management for non-profits. Cox holds a bachelor of arts degree in Political Science from Morehouse College in Atlanta, and a master’s in religious education from the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary of Fort Worth, TX.

The mission is to enable students, in particular, African American students, to get to and through college.
Michael serves on the board of Brown Sons Empowered an organization for brown boys ages 5-15 organized to offer education, opportunities and exposure to resources; enabling them to learn key life skills to be a successful member of society. His latest volunteer role that he’s most excited about is being invited to be on the board of the Southside Community Art Center. A member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. He’s also a member of Christ the King Baptist Church. He has served as a special advisor to the Illinois chapter of America Needs You and the Black Employees Resource Group of Chicago.
He has served in senior pastoral capacities for churches in New Jersey, Texas, Ohio and Illinois. He is the co-author of Church Planting in the African American Community.
Cox received the Men of Excellence 2017 award from the Chicago Defender, honored as the Religion Award recipient by the Montclair Branch of the NAACP and Essence magazine named him one of America’s Do Right Men of the Year for his leadership in the community.
Bishop Alexander is pastor of The Park Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, home to more than 9,000 members. Bishop Alexander earned a bachelor’s degree from Morehouse College, a Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary and a Doctorate of Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. Bishop Alexander is ranked among the 75 most influential persons in Charlotte by Charlotte Magazine. He is co-chair of the Community Building Initiative, a nonprofit organization that works to achieve racial and ethnic inclusion and equity in the Charlotte Mecklenburg community.
